Inspired Ideas: Green Walls

Written by Rosa Hinton

This month our design team share their insights into green walls. Design director, James Smith, says ‘Where space is at a premium, or a dull wall needs bringing to life, green walls are a popular choice in many urban garden settings. Plant choices can be styled to suit all tastes from minimal greens to an abundance of colour and flower, boosting ecology and habitats.’

Here you’ll find some inspiration of the different ways green walls can be used – with a mix of projects that we have designed and built and also built for others…

We constructed this free-standing green wall as part of a London roof terrace designed by Lucy Wilcox and Ana Sanchez-Martin

Green walls can have innovative design too - James Smith created this concept visual for a project in Notting Hill
Green walls can be a great background to an outdoor kitchen area. We created this for Gaze Burvill at RHS Chelsea a few years ago
We built this impressive backdrop to a staircase, as part of a project designed by Luciano Giubbilei
