We constructed The Composer’s Cabin for designer Martha Kempel as part of the Houseplant Studios at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026, winning a silver medal. Inspired by West Penwith’s rugged moorland and peat bogs, the studio centres on a Steinway baby grand piano, surrounded by lush indoor planting that enhances acoustics and creates a calming, biophilic environment.
Outside, a carefully designed landscape features winding paths, a reflective pond, integrated seating and a living roof of sphagnum mosses and ferns. Together, these elements seamlessly connect architecture and nature, demonstrating a sensitive, immersive space.
