Chelsea Flower Show 2024: Hamish Mackie Sculpture – Plant List

Written by John Wyer

The planting scheme on Hamish Mackie’s display at Chelsea Flower Show 2024 takes inspiration from the forests & plains found in the Earth’s most northern regions. The rich habitats found in this part of the world are home to many of the animals which feature in Hamish’s stand this year, from the stately life-size Moose standing proudly on the corner of the stand, the fierce trio of hunting wolves stalking midway on a raised platform, to the leaping boars found running across the front of the stand.

The planting aims to evoke the imagination by capturing a moment in nature, set on the transitional edge of these forests, where the trees become sparser, the habitat shifts toward the more grass dominated plains & nature is abundant. The lifelike movement of Hamish’s sculptures is complimented by a rich tapestry of ferns, rustling grasses & delicate flowering species that draw upon the texture & shapes found in these majestic lands.
