Bowles & Wyer

5 questions with…

Written by Rosa Hinton

Each month we’ll feature a 5 question interview with one of our team – whether it’s one of our internal designers or trusted external contractors. This month we’ve got Assistant Landscape Designer, Faye Rush, in the hotseat…

1. Where do you find inspiration?
A picture says a thousand words for me. So visiting gardens, flicking through design magazines and books, and browsing Pinterest, are all places to draw inspiration from. But I would say I tend to find most of my ideas through experiencing natural landscapes – I like to travel and enjoy hiking and outdoor sports, and take these opportunities to photograph my surroundings, or just take a mental image and then research later.

2. What’s your favourite landscape?
I’ve always enjoyed walking through woodlands, particularly in Spring and Autumn. I also find the wild Mediterranean landscape fascinating, and try to capture a little piece of it in my tiny south-facing potted garden at home. I’m sure many of you will also agree when I say I have become much more appreciative and interested in my local environment more recently.

3. What are you working on now?
Right now I’m grateful to have the opportunity to be working on such a variety of projects, including residential gardens in both London and Hertfordshire, one of which includes a series of different terraces.

4. What’s the best part of your job?
Aside from having the opportunity to work with some of the most talented individuals in the industry, it has to be creating amazing outdoor spaces for other people to enjoy and experience.

5. Why do you work at Bowles & Wyer?
I have worked for Bowles & Wyer for almost a year now and I cannot believe how quickly it has gone by. I feel so proud to be working for a company that is so forward-thinking in the industry, and holds such strong values and commitments to both clients and employees.
